The Challenge
SUM is a platform aimed at amplifying the voices of creatives and academics alike. As a collaborative project, SUM has undertaken a wide range of projects, from exhibitions and music sessions to articles and activism. As a result, the project calls for a vibrant modern identity to reflect its forward-thinking outlook
The Solution
As a creative endeavour, the design direction for SUM has always been very open and experimental, allowing my design growth while grabbing the attention of an audience open to forward-thinking design. In its early stages, we developed the concept for the ‘globe’ design, along with the blueprint for a geometric design language and the minimal colour scheme.
The Solution
This language then evolved into bolder, thicker lines and more abstract forms, pushing the identity into a more interesting and playful realm. The name ‘SUM’ reflects the cofounder’s background as a physicist, and the globe design was transformed into an atom to align with this theme.
The Solution
Throughout the project, I have worked on a huge range of outputs as the primary designer. These include website design and development, posters, event promotion (both print and digital), article and copywriting, merchandise, social media design, video editing and animation, photo editing and more.
